8 , 2006 Composer and award winning guitarist Muriel Anderson has released seven CD's in the US, three video DVDs, and is host and originator of the renowned "Muriel Anderson's All Star Guitar Night." Her Heartstrings album traveled as far as outer space, accompanying the astronauts on a space shuttle mission. According to the Chicago Tribune: "Acoustic guitarist Muriel Anderson... has justifiably gained a reputation as one of the world's best, and most versatile, guitar instrumentalists." From Japanese Koto music and Irish reels to Bach minuets, Sousa marches, and Roger Miller's "King of the Road," Muriel Anderson hurdles stylistic barriers in a single bound- showing the passion for music, oneness with her instrument, and gentle sense of humor which have endeared her to audiences worldwide. Protege of both classical virtuoso Christopher Parkening and country giant Chet Atkins, Muriel won the National Fingerpicking Guitar Championship in 1989 - and is still the only woman to hold the title. Stu Frazier has developed a reputation in Livermore and the greater East Bay area with his astonishing experimentation in "open tunings" on the acoustic guitar. A strong proponent of the alternate DADGAD tuning, Stu never fails to amaze even seasoned veterans of the acoustic guitar. Live-music fans will recognize Stu from his work with the local folk-blues band Blind Dog. |
Muriel will perform a benefit concert on Wednesday, February 8, starting at 7:00pm. All proceeds go to the Rotary Music Scholarship Fund, and its efforts towards the education of up-and-coming musicians. Where?
7:00pm (doors open at 6:30pm)
